When I first read the title of this PG Soft game I’m reviewing today, I must admit that I wasn’t too keen to get started. The whole theme doesn’t really do it for me; I don’t, particularly like seafood and the last and only the time I went fishing, I managed to accidentally catch a duck rather than a fish. The other fishermen on the lake were not impressed, and neither was the bird! So, you can imagine my joy when I conducted some research and discovered that this slot is actually based on a popular Chinese casino game, which is also known as Hoo Hey How. Great, right? Gambling is what we’re all here for, after all. Stats-wise, Win Win Fish Prawn Crab is a low volatility, six-reel video slot featuring a maximum win of 20,000x and an RTP of 96.72%
The story goes that there was once a successful casino owner in China whose venue was always packed with punters, thanks to the new and interesting games he would create for them. However, as the years passed, business went down, and the casino was almost bankrupt. One day, he was reflecting on life whilst beside the sea and was inspired by some crabs to create the game this slot is based on, and it proved to be a great success. Game-enhancing additions to look out for include cascading reels, increasing multipliers, and a free spins bonus. In the spirit of the creative genius who invented Hoo Hey How, the bonus round has been given a refreshing twist, featuring potentially unlimited spins and a sticky, growing multiplier.
If that’s got you feeling like you’d love a trip to this guy’s casino to test out all the crazy new games he’s invented, then go and check out the Win Win Fish Prawn Crab demo slot, which is available to play for free below!

I’ve not played many table-game inspired slots in the past, but Win Win Fish Prawn Crab has certainly demonstrated how entertaining they can be. A couple of others worth checking out in the PG Soft catalogue are its two Mahjong-themed efforts based on the Chinese tile-matching game of the same name. Mahjong Ways is a medium volatility slot packed with features such as transforming wilds, multipliers, and a free spins bonus. Or perhaps you’d prefer its sequel? Mahjong Ways 2 is a similar game to its predecessor, played on the same grid layout, but has a slightly improved RTP at 96.95% and a monstrous maximum win available of 100,000x! Right, back to the here and now, and next, we're set to find just what Win Win Fish Prawn Crab can pay out. I'll see you over at the paytable.
Sitting at the top of the paytable is the Wild, which will return 2x your total stake value per line of six symbols. Next, it’s the Rooster at 1x and the Crab at 0.75x. These are followed by the Casino Chip and the Vase, which both pay 0.4x. The final premium symbols are the Prawn and the Fish, which are both worth 0.3x. The non-premium symbols on offer are the classic A, K, Q, and J, which will return 0.25x, 0.25x, 0.2x, and 0.2x, your full bet value, respectively, per line of six symbols. These values are on the low side, but once the multiplier and the number of payways available are factored in, they become more attractive.
Looking at the stake options on Win Win Fish Prawn Crab, we can see that there are many to choose from; these range from as low as €0.20 to as high as €100.00. With lots of choice in between these figures, there’s likely to be a suitable stake selection available for every player choosing to play this slot game for real money.
Analysing the game mechanics, we can see that Win Win Fish Prawn Crab is played over six reels, with rows set up in a 4-5-5-5-5-4 formation, with his set-up creating a total of 10,000 payways. Winning combinations are formed by matching a minimum of three corresponding symbols from left to right, commencing on the leftmost reel. Any symbols involved in a win are then removed from the reels prior to the next cascade, where additional symbols drop down from the top to offer the opportunity for further wins to take place.
Above the reels, you will notice a multiplier value displayed. At the start of any main game spin, this multiplier value is set to x1. Whenever a winning combination occurs, this value will be increased by +1 before the next cascade. This process continues until there are no further cascades, and there is no limit on how high the multiplier can grow. The value of each winning sequence shall be multiplied by the value of the current multiplier after each cascade.
Landing three, four, or five scatter symbols on the reels during any one spin will trigger the free spins feature, and it will begin with a starting balance of three, four, or five lives, respectively.
At the start of the bonus, the multiplier value is set to x1, and it is increased in increments of one with every winning cascade, holding its value between spins. Each dead spin will remove a life from the lives meter, whilst this meter is reset to its original starting balance by any win on the reels. The feature will only end once all lives have been lost.
As I mentioned in my introduction, this wasn’t a title that jumped out at me as one I'd like to play. However, they say never to judge a book by its cover, which certainly applies here. This is a really good slot. Yes, the base game is nothing extraordinary and probably would have benefited from some additional wild symbol magic, which PG Soft usually do so well, but the bonus feature really makes this game.
It’s a great twist on several commonly seen bonus features, with the Megaways style multiplier increasing and the hearts resetting with each winning combination. It works very well, and once the multiplier is built to a decent level, the big wins can keep coming, potentially indefinitely, or at least until the maximum win is reached; we can only hope!
